“The center of interest or activity; the state or quality of having or producing clear visual definition”
Proverbs 29:18 1599 Geneva Bible (GNV) “Where there is no vision, the people decay: but he that keepeth the law is blessed.”
Proverbs 4:25 ESV “Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.”
How can a man lead his family to Christ if he does not have a clear vision of where to go? First, he needs to have an interest of knowing Christ and setting it as the center of his being. Then lift his head, look directly forward and go!
Where does he go? Do you feel as though you have been spun around 50 times, stopped, and then told to GO? It is ok to stop and get your focus. Boy, that word focused. It is a power word. A word that shows dedication, drive and certainly a quest.
But, who has decided to leave his flesh and pursue Christlikeness with no-holds-barred-passion? This type of quest removes all the obstacles and continues to pursue; no matter what. Proverbs 29:18 says that those who keep the law are blessed. This quest includes really knowing God’s Word and tucking it away in the very fibers of your being. Yet, there is a big difference between knowing God’s Word and keeping God’s Word.
You might ask what obstacles should I remove from my line of vision. They can be things like traditions, concern about what others think of you, your wife’s bad attitude, lack of finances, lack of sleep, a bad day at work, kids that will not listen to you to name a few. A person on a quest does not let the obstacles stop them from their gaze straight before them. They learn from the obstacles as they do not want to have them halt their journey in any way.
This is the awesome benefit of the Emotion Cards you do from the Christ Quest Institute. If you have not heard of them, you should definitely find out about them! You will look at your obstacles, name them, declare the emotions that occur when you experience them, then ask what God wants you to learn from them. You then actually have the opportunity to seize the chance of learning Christlikeness. You can attach the knowledge of God’s Word to the situation and claim victory! Thus, resulting in overcoming that particular obstacle.
Many men think that they will eventually get rid of every obstacle and be able to cruise thought his journey. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is a life, long venture. There will be ebbs and flows of times where the flesh will rise up and want to regain ground. But that is evidence that we need our Savior Jesus. Our sin nature cannot continue to win. It will try and trick you; telling you that you are so poorly mistreated. That is where the quest-man should step up and focus. Focus on what God wants. Focus on what the lesson He wants to teach you. Focus on how you are going to keep the law. Set your gaze straight before you and GO.
If you don’t, God says that you will decay. Your relationship with Him will decay. Your relationship with your wife will decay. Many other areas will decay. But why would you want to decay? I think being blessed is the better option, just sayin’. Who is going to take the challenge, step up and have at it? It gives a whole new meaning to a “Focus Group”!
